| Job Description |
Attends necessary and required meetings with county management team and serves on committees where applicable; meets with county and city school boards to set elections calendar so that schools may be closed on election days.
Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with County policies, procedures and applicable laws.
Conducts and provides information to the Cobb County Board of Elections and Registration at board meetings.
Conducts special elections.
Coordinates with the Sheriff\\\\\\\'s Office to maintain security at all polling places.
Creates Congressional, Senate, State House, State Senate, County Commission and School Board boundaries based on changes that the legislators make and after the census in order to maintain voting and political districts.
Ensures that all ballots used in elections are error free.
Ensures that all polling place facilities open and close on time for each election.
Interprets election and voter registration laws, policies, rules and regulations for the entire staff, the members of the Board of Elections and Registration, the Board\\\\\\\'s attorney, candidates and the general public.
Investigates and resolves problems, complaints or any voting irregularities received from the public.
Leads department management teams in short- and long-term strategic planning initiatives for the department\\\\\\\'s mission, programs, and related goals and objectives.
Locates and secures facilities to be used as polling places including signing contracts for each facility.
Maintains current knowledge of industry, regulatory and legislative developments affecting elections and registration services to ensure application to areas of responsibility.
Meets with voters, candidates, elected officials, Secretary of State Election Division staff, other counties and states election and voter registration offices and with the media to answer questions, provide information and to receive and resolve problems and complaints.
Oversees the establishment, communications and implementation of policies, procedures and standards for the department.
Prepares a poll manual for each election providing laws and procedures that election workers must perform during election time.
Prepares bi-annual budget for the department; monitors and controls expenditures.
Qualifies candidates for county and city offices before each election cycle; conducts recall elections, recounts and performs research for provisional ballots.
Speaks to civic groups, high school students about the selection process and voting; creates voter education programs to encourage citizens to register. |

| Qualifications |
Bachelor's degree in Public Administration or related field; supplemented by five years of professional managerial experience with budgetary, policy, and procedural administration responsibilities and accountability; experience should also include conducting elections and registration functions; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Valid Driver's License.
Ability to obtain Notary Public.
Elections experience in the State of Georgia is preferred.
Knowledge of ES&S elections software, optical scanning and touchscreen voting systems is preferred.
